Pizzaiolo / Pizza Maker

The Plymouth Hotel Kitchen & Bar is a family-run restaurant with a commitment to the community. We're looking to expand our employee base in order to build our business.

 

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and personable Pizzaiolo / Pizza Maker. Although we do not consider our establishment a "pizza place," we have become respected for our wood-fired pizzas. Our dough is handcrafted and hand-stretched, made in a traditional Italian wood-fired oven, and although Italian in style, our pizzas are inspired by many different cultures and flavors.

 

To be a Pizzaiolo / Pizza Maker at the Plymouth Hotel is not simply a job, it is a craft. The Pizzaiolo / Pizza Maker will be trained in the operations of the pizza oven, learn how we make pizzas at our establishment, and develop the skills necessary to manage and run the pizza oven on their own.

 

The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, works with energy and well with others, has good organization and communication skills to manage the flow of the pizza oven, and has fun cooking!

 

The Pizzaiolo / Pizza Maker is a Team Member in our establishment, specifically a member of the Kitchen Staff, and though solely responsible for the Pizza Oven, is therefore also responsible for the daily operations of our kitchen and restaurant as a whole. This includes, but is not limited to, cooking and preparing orders, keeping the kitchen clean and orderly, and practicing safe, efficient procedures to ensure consistent quality.

 

Experience is not required (although it is welcome). Applicants must have an upbeat, positive attitude, be comfortable in fast-paced environments, and work well under pressure.

 

All Plymouth Hotel Team Members work as a cohesive unit, picking up slack wherever needed.

Responsibilities (Including but Not Limited to)

  • Assisting with the setup and arrangement of service area prior to operational hours

  • Preparing pizza-related ingredients, including dough and sauces before service, and restocking during shift

  • Preparing food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner

  • Monitoring the temperature of the pizza ovens as well as cooking times

  • Preparing high-quality pizzas according to Plymouth Hotel recipes

  • Following portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the Plymouth Hotel

  • Operate, maintain, clean, and organize standard and pizza-specific kitchen equipment

  • Ensuring that all utensils and cooking equipment are sterilized before each use

  • Managing all food order slips and ensuring that customers’ orders are completed in a timely manner

  • Plating or packaging pizzas accordingly

  • Running prepared dishes to customers when necessary

  • Monitoring food stock & prepare inventory lists

  • Assisting with tasks from Kitchen Staff, Chef, and (occasionally) Front of House staff

  • Adhering to all sanitation and food production codes

  • Disposing of expired or spoiled ingredients at the end of each shift

  • Assisting in the cleaning & maintenance of the Plymouth Hotel as a whole

  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required

Requirements / Skills

  • Must be 16+, ideally 18+

  • An upbeat attitude, team-oriented spirit, and good communication skills are a must

  • Good time-management skills

  • Experience is ideal but not required - we are willing to train

  • A passion for the craft of making handmade pizza

  • Dedication to consistency and quality

  • Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure

  • Follow all safety and health regulations

  • Food Handler's Certificate / Serve Safe is preferred

  • Understand and comply with CA employment laws

Other Details

  • Part-Time Position as the Plymouth Hotel’s hours are currently Thursday - Saturday, 5 PM - 9 PM

  • Usually 8-10 Hour Shifts

  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion

  • Position requires working with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as potentially operating phones, computers, printers, tablets, and other electronic devices

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour plus tips

Server/Barback/Barback

We are looking for a gregarious server/barback/bartender for the Plymouth Hotel to provide our patrons with an excellent dining experience. Must be 21+. Part-time, we are open Thursday - Saturday, 5PM - 9PM - we have the intention of growing as we progress. We are willing to consider those with little to no experience, but enthusiasm for the job is ESSENTIAL. Must have good communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work as a team.


​​This position will require you to be open to learning and performing many tasks: yes, you will bartend, but mainly the position will entail serving and you will be expected to barback when necessary. Basic computer/iOS competency required.

  • Greeting guests, taking drink & food orders

  • Staying attentive to the needs of guests in the dining area

  • Delivering food from the kitchen to the guests when necessary

  • Ensuring the food order is made correctly by kitchen staff and looks presentable for guests

  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar and restaurant patrons

  • Interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks and food (when applicable), assist with bussing

  • Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations

  • Prepare bar and dining area before opening and clean/close-up after last call

  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies

  • Stay guest-focused and nurture an excellent guest experience

  • Provide support when needed to the rest of the staff – Be team-oriented

  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations

Requirements / Skills

  • Must be 21+

  • Proven working experience as a bartender (ideal but not required) or hospitality/restaurant industry

  • Knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks (or willingness to learn)

  • Computer literacy

  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

  • This is a fast-paced job, so we are looking for a hard worker who can move, learn, and adapt quickly

Kitchen Staff / Food Runner

The Plymouth Hotel is a family-run restaurant with a commitment to the community. We're looking to expand our employee base in order to build our business.


We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and personable employee to work in our restaurant's kitchen. Members of the Kitchen Staff are responsible for the daily operations of our kitchen, including but are not limited to cooking and preparing orders, keeping the kitchen clean and orderly, and practicing safe, efficient procedures to ensure consistent quality.

Ideal candidates are interested in growing in the position and in the business.

Experience is not required, but applicants must have an upbeat, positive attitude, be comfortable in fast paced environments, and work well under pressure.
